Guided Walking History Tour of Traverse City

Welcome To The

Join us as we take a walk through Traverse City History!

Our Third Season
Three years ago, we started with the idea of doing a free guided walk through the historic neighborhoods of Traverse City.  Our guide would be compensated with gratuities from our guests.  The plan was for anyone interested to meet at the Perry Hannah Plaza at 6th and Union on Wednesday mornings at 11 AM. No reservations were needed.  If no one showed up, no tour.  As simple as that.

In our first season we averaged about 3 people per tour - many weeks no one, several weeks groups of 10 or more.  But by the end of the season we were averaging 6 to 10 people per tour, so we concluded the idea had merit.

Last season we added a second day and moved the tours to Mondays and Tuesdays.  As we became more well known through the season, we saw considerable increases in people taking the tour.  We had 20 volunteers from the Traverse City Visitors Center take the tour, so having those folks know about us was a big help.  We also benefited from listings on the Interlochen Radio Almanac (WIAA) and Traverse City Visitors Center websites.

This year we will conduct tours on Mondays and Tuesdays, both days at 2:00PM.  We will also be adding a  "Custom Tour" option.  Click here for more details.

Hope to see you this season!

The Guided Walking History Tour is FREE walking tour not affiliated with any non-profit, for profit, or municipal organization.
